    Start with the BAA — a vendor that will not sign a Business Associate Agreement cannot be used for PHI, regardless of how it markets its encryption. From there: encryption in transit and at rest, an independent attestation such as SOC 2 Type II, comprehensive audit logging, role-based access controls, and integration with the systems your team already uses. Confirm the BAA is included on the plan you actually intend to buy, not only at enterprise tiers.
    Yes — cloud fax, online fax, and internet fax all describe sending and receiving faxes over an internet connection instead of a dedicated phone line. “Cloud fax” usually implies the service is fully hosted, with no on-premise fax server to maintain. Documo Cloud Fax is a cloud-based online fax service, so there is no hardware or fax server to run.
